1. Export the file from Walmart Seller Center

1. In Walmart Seller Center open Payments and find the payment period you want.
2. Download the reconciliation (recon) report for that period as CSV.
3. Upload that file here as downloaded, without opening and re-saving it in a spreadsheet.

Why a raw Walmart recon report export fails in Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice

Opened in Excel, the recon report is several rows per order line plus a summary row whose Total Payable sits in its own column, so summing the Amount column by kind needs a pivot table.

Excel and Google Sheets open a CSV directly, but only if it is a simple table. A bank statement file has to be turned into one first.

What is unusual about the Walmart recon report file

• The first row after the header is a PaymentSummary row with the period dates, the currency and Total Payable (the payout); every other row is one part of an order line: Transaction Type (Sale, Refund, Adjustment), Amount Type (Product Price, Shipping, Commission on Product, Commission on Shipping, product and shipping tax and tax withheld, Fee/Reimbursement) and a signed Amount.
• Every row is added up and compared with Total Payable. If they differ, you get a WARNING with the difference and the gap goes to the clearing account. We have not seen a complete real report, so the check itself is not yet confirmed on real data.
• The report becomes named lines (product sales, shipping, refunds, Walmart commission, shipping labels, sales tax charged and kept by Walmart as marketplace facilitator) plus the payout, all dated on the PaymentSummary row's posted date.
• Commission on a refund is positive (Walmart gives it back), so commission is read with its own sign, never forced negative.
• Adjustment rows other than shipping label charges, and any Amount Type we have not seen, are kept on their own line and listed in a warning. One report and one payout per file; several PaymentSummary rows are refused. The JSON form of the report is refused by name: download the CSV.
• Bank-style files (.qbo, .qfx, .ofx, QuickBooks Online CSV, Xero CSV) go into a separate Walmart clearing account, not your checking account: the last line moves the payout to your bank.

What Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice requires

• One row per transaction: Date, Value date, Amount, Currency, Debit/Credit, Counterparty, Counterparty account, Description, Reference, Balance.
• Comma style: commas between columns and 1234.56 amounts. Semicolon style: semicolons and 1234,56 amounts.
• Dates are written as YYYY-MM-DD unless you choose another format.
• Text that starts with = + - or @ gets an apostrophe in front so a spreadsheet does not run it as a formula.

3. Import the converted file into Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice

1. Open the downloaded file in Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice.
2. If every value lands in one column, use the semicolon style (for European Excel) or import it with Data > From Text/CSV.

Questions

Does the journal entry match my Walmart payout?

The converter adds every row and compares the result with Total Payable from the PaymentSummary row, and the bank line always uses Total Payable. If the rows add up to something else, a warning names the difference and the gap goes to the clearing account. We have not confirmed this check on a complete real report yet.

Why does everything land in one column in Excel?

Excel uses the list separator of your computer's region. In much of Europe that is a semicolon and the decimal mark is a comma. Choose the semicolon style and download again, or open the file through Data > From Text/CSV and pick the separator there.

How is the sales tax Walmart collects booked?

Where Walmart collects and pays the tax as marketplace facilitator, the report has the tax and the same amount withheld, so the two lines net to zero. Tax Walmart did not keep is named in a warning and goes to "Sales Tax / VAT Payable", not to income.

Are accents and umlauts kept?

Yes. The file is UTF-8 and starts with the marker Excel looks for, so names such as Müller or Société open correctly.
